Hastelloy Forged Fittings

Hastelloy Forged Fittings Specification

What are the benefits of using Hastelloy Forged Fittings in high-temperature and high-pressure applications?

This nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy gets favoured for corrosive purposes like incineration scrubbers and pharmaceuticals. Hastelloy forged fittings deliver excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion from sulphuric, formic, and acetic acids.

  • Can handle steep temperatures up to 1800°F or even 1900°F under intermittent use
  • Their low-carbon content limits carbide precipitation, which is a common problem during welding.
  • Alloy C276 forged fittings display top-notch resistance to pitting and stress-cracking corrosion.

These products are available in pressure classes from 150 to 2500. Customers can choose components like elbows, tees, coupling, and unions in grades like C276 and C22 socket weld fittings. The latter shows improved corrosion resistance due to higher chromium content.

What makes Hastelloy Forged Fittings stand out in terms of exceptional performance and dependability?

From cellophane manufacturing and flue gas scrubbers to paper bleaching plants, ASTM B564 Hastelloy forged fittings perform numerous high-stake roles. Their incomparable resistance to severe environmental conditions makes them ideal for nuclear fuel reprocessing and wastewater processing.

The exceptional properties of a Hastelloy threaded tee stem from its chemical composition of 57% nickel, 15 to 17% molybdenum, and low amount of carbon (0.01%). It also contains tungsten and vanadium for stabilization.

Hastelloy C276 threaded fittings also resist hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and sodium hypochlorite. They don’t experience pitting, crevice corrosion, or stress cracking under exposure to chlorides and sulfides.

What testing is performed on Hastelloy Forged Fittings to ensure they meet industry standards?

Comprehensive quality testing of UNS N10276 hastelloy socket weld fittings is vital since they operate in high-risk chlorination systems and pesticide production. A standard Spectro analysis determines the chemical composition. Other tests to verify the compliance of C276 alloy pipe nipples include:

  • IGC or intergranular corrosion tests
  • Flattening
  • Pitting resistance test
  • Testing for mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness, and elongation

Manufacturers also perform PMI testing (or Positive Material Identification) and other NDT processes like ultrasonic exams to detect defects, contamination, and cracks in a Hastelloy 276 union.
